Job description
Position Summary
This role is based at the AIFF-FIFA-Telangana Talent Academy in Hyderabad and reports directly to the Lead of Sports Science. It is a full-time, fixed-term position under the FIFA TDS Project focused on enhancing the physical performance of elite youth male football players.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and execute strength and conditioning programs that align with Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) guidelines, tailored for youth athletes.
- Regularly assess players' fitness levels to track progress and customize training regimens.
- Develop and implement systematic warm-up, cool-down, and injury prevention routines.
- Collaborate extensively with football coaches to sync strength and conditioning efforts with weekly training agendas.
- Utilize tools like RPE, heart rate monitors, and wellness tracking to monitor player fatigue and readiness.
- Manage and analyze physical load data, including GPS tracking and weekly reporting.
- Work alongside physiotherapists and medical teams to facilitate injury rehabilitation protocols.
- Formulate evidence-based recovery plans to maximize player readiness while reducing injury risk.
- Conduct educational workshops on topics including nutrition, injury prevention, recovery, and healthy habits.
- Educate players on correct body mechanics, posture, and athletic care.
- Maintain meticulous records of fitness and performance metrics for all players, including physical maturation tracking.
- Provide frequent performance updates to the academy and the AIFF’s Talent Development Squad core team.
- Use relevant software and data analytics tools to analyze trends and evaluate key performance indicators.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science, Physical Education, or equivalent discipline.
- Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach credential (CSCS, ASCA, NASM, or similar).
- At least 2 to 3 years of practical experience working with youth athletes in organized sports settings.
- Sound knowledge of LTAD concepts, youth athlete physiology, and safe training methodologies.
- Competent in MS Office suite and various data tracking technologies.
Preferred Experience
- Prior work exposure in youth sports academies or team sports environments.
Safeguarding and Wellbeing
The candidate must commit to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all athletes, with particular sensitivity to young female athlete needs despite the boys team's focus.
