Role Overview

As a software engineering intern, you will join our inaugural engineering internship cohort focused on driving Notion's future performance and reliability. Your 12-week internship starting September 14 and ending December 4 will involve close mentorship and participation in AI native projects that significantly impact both customers and engineers. This role requires onsite presence at our San Francisco office.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce clean, secure, well-tested, and well-documented code.
• Contribute to the enhancement and creation of Notion’s product features with a strong AI-first approach.
• Develop, debug, and maintain software spanning full-stack areas including web services, databases, applications, and tools using modern frameworks and technologies.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, graduating before Summer 2027.
• Previous experience through internships.
• Proficiency developing in one or more languages such as TypeScript, Node.js, or Python.
• A passion for tackling complex challenges and an enthusiasm for identifying and resolving problems.
• Ability to adapt and problem-solve in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Availability to work onsite in San Francisco from September 14 to December 4, aligned with your academic schedule.

Essential Skills and Attributes

• Interest and experience with AI technologies including large language models, embeddings, and machine learning.
• Strong analytical skills with an ability to break down complex problems into actionable solutions, and effectively collaborate or seek help when necessary.
• User-centric mindset appreciating the real-life impact of technology and responsibilities that come with scale.
• Open-mindedness to adopt various technologies and programming languages based on tradeoffs rather than ideology.
• Clear and empathetic communication skills to articulate nuanced ideas and work collaboratively in teams.
• A collaborative spirit valuing teamwork and shared learning.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with technology stacks involving TypeScript, React, and Python.
• Awareness of computing pioneers and their contributions, including figures like Ada Lovelace and Alan Kay.
• Interests beyond technology, such as in arts, history, or social sciences.

Compensation and Commitment to Diversity

Notion offers competitive hourly compensation, equity benefits, and a supportive work environment reflecting candidates’ experience, location, and role complexity. For San Francisco-based roles, the estimated hourly wage is $57 for Bachelor’s and $61 for Master’s degree candidates.
