Role Overview

Join Notion as an early career AI software engineer to influence core user experiences and accelerate user value delivery. This position involves ownership of significant projects, critical technical choices, and contributions to product vision with collaboration from cross-functional experts.

Responsibilities

• Develop and launch AI-powered product enhancements in collaboration with your team.
• Take ownership of production projects involving model integrations, monitoring, and improving reliability and latency.
• Participate in evaluation processes by designing evaluation sets, conducting experiments, analyzing findings, and applying insights to improve products and systems.

Potential Teams and Focus Areas

• AI Product Engineering: Implement end-to-end model-driven features encompassing UX, APIs, retrieval, orchestration, and reliability.
• Model and Systems Engineering: Optimize model integration for latency, cost, safety, and robustness; develop model serving and experimental infrastructure.
• Evaluation & Quality: Build frameworks and workflows for automated and human-in-the-loop testing to measure and enhance model/product quality.

Desired Qualifications

• Under two years of engineering experience with a strong grasp of data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
• Experience in prototyping and iterative development, familiarity with AI/ML concepts via projects, courses or internships, and knowledge of relational databases like Postgres or MySQL.
• Analytical problem-solving with a comprehensive understanding of context and impact, capable of managing ambiguity and delivering business-oriented solutions.
• A pragmatic, impact-driven approach to technology, utilizing the latest AI-assisted development tools and focusing on delivering user and business value.
• Proactive communicator with initiative and ownership, independently navigating challenges and advancing projects.

Additional Preferences

• Experience with technologies such as React, TypeScript, Node.js, Postgres, and Elasticsearch.
• Interest in the interplay between technology and society and an awareness of the ethical responsibilities of technologists.
• Familiarity with computing pioneers and their influence on modern technology.

Compensation and Legal Notices

Competitive salary and equity packages are offered, with base salaries in San Francisco and New York ranging approximately from $130,000 to $150,000, adjusted for role complexity, location, and experience.
