Role Overview
Join a pioneering team focused on advancing Amazon DynamoDB, a high-performance NoSQL database handling over 200 million requests per second. This role involves driving innovations to enhance speed and cost-efficiency by leveraging cutting-edge hardware technologies to redefine next-generation cloud databases.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather and analyze technical requirements aligned with business objectives and translate these into detailed system architectures and designs.
- Lead complex, multi-engineer, and cross-team initiatives, guiding efficient project execution and mentoring peers in project management and prioritization.
- Ensure timely, budget-conscious delivery of high-quality products and features.
- Conduct design reviews establishing and championing technical best practices for the engineering team.
- Engage actively in the complete software development life cycle, including prioritization, task allocation, documentation, review, coding, deployment, and operations.
- Perform data-driven analysis to identify opportunities for service optimization and innovation.
- Continuously update technical knowledge to keep pace with evolving technologies and introduce relevant advancements in collaboration with management.
About the Team and Organization
The role is part of AWS Utility Computing (UC), supporting diverse foundational services such as S3, EC2, and other evolving cloud innovations. The team emphasizes inclusion, mentorship, career development, and work-life balance, promoting a supportive and diverse workplace culture.
Core Qualifications
- Proven experience managing engineering teams and demonstrated expertise in software engineering.
- Strong command of engineering methodologies covering full lifecycle development including standards for coding, reviews, testing, and operational support.
- History of leading development of multi-tier web services and collaborating effectively with product and program management.
Preferred Competencies
- Excellent communicator skilled in engaging with users, technical teams, and senior leaders to shape software products and strategies.
- Experienced in recruiting, mentoring, and fostering growth among software engineers to enhance team capabilities.
