About the Brand
The Cheesecake Shop is a much-loved celebration cake brand across Australia and New Zealand, with more than 260 franchise locations and growing. For over 30 years, the business has been part of birthdays, anniversaries and everyday moments worth celebrating. Its tone is warm, cheerful and proudly local, and the national marketing team helps keep that identity consistent.
Role Overview
The business is seeking a creative and adaptable Content Creator to join its Marketing team. This position suits someone who enjoys working in a busy environment, can handle several creative requests at once, and knows how to turn ideas into content that performs.
The role covers everything from making eye-catching social content for national channels to creating materials that support local store reopenings and community initiatives. A strong awareness of social media trends, quick reactions to TikTok-style moments, and a steady flow of fresh content ideas will be important.
The company wants someone confident on camera, proactive in their approach, and always looking for new ways to keep content relevant and engaging.
This is a hands-on role reporting to the Communications Manager and sitting within a small, high-performing Marketing team in Fairfield East, Sydney. The work will help increase engagement, strengthen the brand, and support both national campaigns and local store results.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, produce and publish content for the brand’s owned social channels, with the aim of building engagement and brand affinity.
- Shape content that performs well by combining brand-led storytelling with formats suited to each platform.
- Track social trends, memes, sounds and cultural moments, and identify authentic ways for the brand to participate.
- Maintain an ongoing content calendar so seasonal events, product launches and campaign timelines are delivered on time.
- Build a reliable stream of high-quality videos, photos and creative assets to support both planned campaigns and everyday marketing needs.
- Monitor online conversations and emerging trends to find natural, relevant ways for the brand to join in.
- Travel to stores when needed to capture photos and videos that highlight the franchise network, franchisee success stories and customer experience for recruitment and brand storytelling.
- Work with the Franchise Development team to turn business information into clear, engaging content for potential franchise partners.
- Maintain an up-to-date library of franchise recruitment and marketing materials, including videos, photography, case studies, presentations and digital assets.
- Act as the main creative contact for franchise partners by helping stores with local marketing efforts that build awareness, bring in customers and connect with the community.
- Create tailored local marketing campaigns for store-specific needs, including grand openings, anniversaries, community events, sponsorships and promotions.
- Guide franchisees on social media best practice, local marketing opportunities and practical content creation.
- Ensure all locally created marketing content follows brand guidelines and supports the wider national marketing strategy.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of experience in content creation, social media or marketing, preferably in a consumer brand, agency or franchise setting. They should have a portfolio that demonstrates strong short-form video, photography, graphic design and writing skills across different platforms.
A strong sense of storytelling, an eye for aesthetics, and the ability to spot what grabs attention on social media are important. The person should be comfortable filming and editing content that feels authentic and engaging.
Proficiency with CapCut and Canva, or similar tools, is expected, along with solid video editing ability. Experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude or comparable platforms to support planning, ideation, copywriting and creative workflows is also valued.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are needed, including the ability to tailor tone for different audiences while keeping the brand voice consistent.
Organisation matters in this role, as it involves managing multiple projects, deadlines and stakeholders in a fast-moving environment. The company is also looking for someone who is collaborative, practical and happy to support both franchise partners and colleagues.
A passion for social media and digital culture, plus a habit of keeping up with new platforms, trends and best practices, is essential. Experience in a franchise or multi-site retail environment is an advantage, but not a strict requirement.
