Site Supervisor - Dredging and Marine Construction

Overview

Orion Mining Inc is recruiting a seasoned Site Supervisor specializing in dredging to manage dredging, reclamation, marine, and port construction activities for a significant EPC project located in Ras Laffan, Qatar. This role demands ensuring the project's tasks are executed safely, efficiently, and meet the defined project specifications, quality norms, environmental regulations, and schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the operations related to dredging, reclamation, breakwater, jetty, quay wall, and other marine construction works.
• Supervise and assess the performance of contractors and subcontractors.
• Manage coordination of dredging vessels including cutter suction dredgers, trailing suction hopper dredgers, backhoe dredgers, barges, tugs, and survey vessels.
• Verify excavation quantities and monitor reclamation progress.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, environmental (HSE), and quality standards.
• Organize hydrographic and topographic survey activities.
• Compile and deliver daily progress reports from the site.
• Identify construction challenges promptly and initiate corrective measures.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Marine Engineering, Construction Engineering or related field.
• At least 8 years of relevant experience in dredging, marine construction, land reclamation, and port construction.
• Hands-on knowledge of Cutter Suction Dredgers (CSD), Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers (TSHD), Backhoe Dredgers, Split Hopper Barges, and survey vessels.
• Previous involvement with EPC or marine contractors.
• Experience working on projects in the Middle East is a desirable asset.
• Proficient understanding of hydrographic surveys and dredging volume estimations.
• Strong leadership qualities combined with excellent communication skills.
