Job Summary

The Shift Lead is responsible for overseeing the fill operation to ensure the sales floor is prepared for trading and managing resources effectively to support serving customers, selling, and stocking. This role involves leading the floor in the absence of the Colleague Manager and coordinating operational tasks during filling periods.

Key Duties

• Lead and manage the fill operation, guiding colleagues on optimal methods and enhancing productivity to ready the store for opening.
• Coordinate team members to perform operational tasks efficiently and ensure a clean, safe, and well-presented retail environment.
• Allocate staff to provide an expeditious payment process for customers.
• Ensure the successful execution of daily operational procedures across designated store areas at appropriate times.
• Act as a role model for excellent customer service and embody M&S behavioral standards and colleague expectations.
• Create and maintain a positive, inclusive team atmosphere.
• Assist Colleague Managers by providing feedback on team performance to encourage high standards and recognize outstanding employees.
• Provide support to nearby stores when operational needs arise.
• Fulfill key holder responsibilities, including responding to call-outs as required.
• Manage critical tasks related to opening and closing the store building, such as vehicle receipt, temperature monitoring, reporting operational issues, cash handling, and ensuring compliance with Trading Standards legislation outside regular hours.
