Role Overview
This position is for a driven and hands-on Service Technician to support the service team in keeping the company’s smart terminal fleet operating at a high standard across Singapore. The role combines elements of IT desktop support with practical electronics work and field servicing.
New joiners will receive structured onboarding through a mentorship setup, working closely with an experienced teammate to learn the hardware environment and deployment workflow.
Key Duties
Terminal management and deployment
- Prepare terminals for rollout by setting up hardware, flashing firmware, and carrying out pre-deployment testing.
- Serve as the initial point of contact for terminal fault reports, identify hardware issues, and resolve straightforward technical problems.
- Support deployment work by coordinating deliveries, carrying out onsite installations, and collecting terminals after use.
Field service and maintenance
- Perform preventive onsite checks such as replacing RTC batteries, servicing balance stations, and testing network signal and connectivity.
- Assist with project rollout activities by maintaining deployment trackers, handling JIRA tickets, and arranging service slots with client locations such as schools.
- Carry out basic physical rework on PCBAs or component soldering when needed, and transport tools, parts, and ladders safely to service locations.
Requirements
- A NITEC or Diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or a similar technical field is required.
- At least 1 year of experience in a similar technical support, desktop support, or field equipment role is preferred, though fresh graduates with strong practical skills may also be considered.
- Comfort with computer hardware, basic networking, and mobile tools or apps is expected.
- Experience using Windows or Linux systems, along with remote desktop tools, is needed.
- Understanding of cloud concepts will be an advantage.
- A valid Class 3 driving licence with at least 1 year of clean driving experience is preferred for travelling between sites.
- The role requires the ability to do physical work, operate at heights, and move ladders and tools to job sites.
- Applicants should be able to manage priorities, stay effective under pressure, and approach problems with a responsible, positive attitude.
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills are required.
- Availability for short-notice after-hours or weekend work is needed when event or facility schedules require it.
