About the Role
CHANEL is looking for an experienced Senior Paralegal to join its Legal team based in New York. This pivotal role supports a wide variety of corporate legal functions including litigation, employment law, commercial issues, and compliance matters. The position requires close collaboration with attorneys and cross-departmental teams, pushing for organizational effectiveness and operational excellence within the legal processes. The candidate should demonstrate strong legal expertise, excellent organizational abilities, and aptitude for managing complex tasks in an energetic and team-driven environment, with an openness to integrating advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive support to the Legal department across litigation, employment law, regulatory compliance, and commercial legal matters, ensuring smooth coordination and task execution.
- Manage case progress efficiently by monitoring workflows, deadlines, and deliverables across various legal matters.
- Liaise with external counsel by organizing case files, compiling necessary documents, and coordinating interviews.
- Contribute to risk management and mitigation by facilitating investigations, supervising compliance with evolving regulations, and maintaining legal monitoring systems.
- Develop and oversee a centralized and accessible database to track U.S. legal and regulatory updates.
- Ensure adherence to litigation holds, proper document preservation, and comprehensive records management.
- Monitor legal budgets and expenses.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum 7 years' paralegal experience in a dynamic setting, dealing with multiple legal disciplines.
- Solid understanding of legal workflows and case management techniques.
- Hands-on experience supporting discovery processes, litigation holds, and legal investigations.
- Ability to balance competing priorities independently while maintaining high-quality deliverables.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, exercising sound judgment and discretion.
- Familiarity with legal and business systems such as iManage, Coupa, Microsoft Office, and experience in legislative tracking, budget oversight, and legal database management.
- Adaptability in using AI-based legal tools and technology.
Work Arrangements
This role is partially remote, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the New York City office.
Compensation and Benefits
The base salary range is between $87,500 and $120,000 annually. This base salary is part of the overall compensation package that may include bonuses, benefits, and other incentives.
