About the Company
Climate Vault Solutions is an independent, science-led organization that supports companies in making well-substantiated choices within carbon markets. It combines deep technical evaluation, external audits, and governance controls that keep diligence separate from business incentives, helping clients invest in compliance-quality, traceable emissions reductions and removals. Its work is trusted by organizations including T. Rowe Price, Tripadvisor, MIT, and Morningstar for emissions reductions, carbon removal, and super pollutant mitigation. The company was founded at the University of Chicago and operates under the guidance of an independent scientific committee led by former U.S. Secretary of Energy Dr. Ernest Moniz, preserving scientific decision-making from commercial influence.
Role Overview
This full-time Senior Operations Manager position is based in Washington, DC and follows a hybrid work model, with time split between onsite collaboration and working from home as needed. The role is responsible for keeping daily operations running smoothly so the organization can deliver its services efficiently. The position calls for strong coordination across teams, careful process management, and support for strategic priorities.
Core Responsibilities
You will build and improve operating structures, track performance metrics, oversee vendors and partners, and help ensure adherence to both internal standards and outside obligations. In addition, the position contributes to budgeting, allocation of resources, and risk oversight to help support long-term growth.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate brings established experience in operations management, including designing workflows, improving processes, and monitoring performance. Strong program and project management capability is important, along with the ability to run several initiatives at once while keeping cross-functional teams aligned. Background in climate, sustainability, carbon markets, environmental services, or a related area is a strong advantage. Comfort working with data and analytics tools to understand operational trends and guide decisions is also expected. The role requires excellent communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills with both technical and non-technical audiences. Candidates should be effective in a hybrid setting, show strong judgment, and demonstrate accountability and integrity. A bachelor’s degree in business, operations, environmental studies, or a related discipline is required; an advanced degree or credentials such as PMP, Lean, or Six Sigma are a plus. Prior experience scaling operations in a mission-driven or fast-growing organization is preferred.
