About the Role
Join Parsons as a Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in theme park and entertainment projects. This position supports the construction supervision of a prestigious luxury hospitality and entertainment complex in Qatar, featuring immersive experiences, retail, leisure, and hospitality components.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the installation, testing, commissioning, and handover of mechanical systems including HVAC, chilled water, plumbing, utility networks, ride-support infrastructure, show HVAC, water attractions, filtration, water treatment, and life-support systems.
- Ensure the Contractor’s mechanical tasks align with contract documents, IFC drawings, specifications, schedules, quality standards, methodologies, and health and safety regulations.
- Review and comment on shop drawings, material submissions, method statements, RFIs, and inspection requests related to mechanical works.
- Coordinate integration of mechanical systems with architectural, structural, electrical, fire, and specialized ride and show systems.
- Conduct inspections, Factory and Site Acceptance Tests, functional testing, and witness commissioning activities to verify compliance.
- Identify non-conformances and coordinate remediation with contractors and quality teams.
- Assist Resident Engineer with variations, technical issues, clarifications, and site instructions associated with mechanical works.
- Collaborate with operators, vendors, manufacturers, and commissioning teams to ensure successful system operation and readiness.
- Participate in snagging, handover, and defect liability period inspections; review as-built drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, and other documentation for completeness.
- Prepare technical reports, inspection logs, progress updates, and recommendations for senior management and project teams.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Professional registration such as Professional Engineer or Chartered Engineer is preferred.
- At least 12 years of experience in supervising mechanical works on major hospitality, entertainment, mixed-use, or destination developments.
- Background in construction supervision or resident engineering for large multidisciplinary projects.
- Proven expertise in managing mechanical systems for themed entertainment, water parks, integrated resorts, or similar leisure destinations.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, chilled water, plumbing, water treatment, filtration, life-support, compressed air, and utility mechanical systems.
- Experience overseeing testing, commissioning, integrated system testing, operational readiness, and project handover processes.
- GCC region experience is highly desirable.
Desired Skills and Competencies
- In-depth understanding of mechanical engineering systems and construction supervision in complex hospitality and entertainment projects.
- Strong familiarity with mechanical components related to themed attractions, water rides, and guest-experience facilities.
- Ability to manage multidisciplinary coordination among contractors, vendors, manufacturers, operators, consultants, commissioning teams, and authorities.
- Excellent analytical skills to resolve construction issues and site challenges effectively.
- Strong communication, report writing, and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Skillful review and interpretation of IFC drawings, technical specs, shop drawings, commissioning documents, and maintenance manuals.
- Organizational aptitude to handle multiple simultaneous tasks without compromising quality, safety, schedule, or contractual adherence.
- Capability to operate efficiently in large multidisciplinary environments focused on engineering excellence and successful project delivery.
