Job Purpose

The Shift Engineer role within the Taskforce is critical for ensuring that production functions smoothly with a strong focus on safety, quality, and operational efficiency. Responsibilities include optimizing production throughput, minimizing downtime, leading safety initiatives, supporting continuous improvement projects, resolving production issues, and fostering multiskilling efforts to maintain flexible operations and meet production goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and conduct frequent safety interactions to engage employees and reinforce a safety-first culture to proactively reduce workplace risks.
• Enforce strict compliance with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) usage among all personnel to maintain health and safety standards and prevent injuries.
• Identify and report near-miss incidents proactively to mitigate possible hazards and enhance workplace safety.
• Drive daily and monthly production throughput targets by optimizing manufacturing processes and minimizing operational downtime.
• Maintain high uptime for stringer machinery by addressing maintenance requirements and optimizing machine performance.
• Oversee 5S methodology adherence, ensuring team members complete self-assessments, and that the work environment remains clean, organized, and efficient with ongoing improvements.
• Improve production quality by reducing pre-electroluminescence rework and string rejection rates through defect identification and corrective actions.
• Enhance quality control to decrease final reworks and customer complaints, promptly addressing defects and concerns to ensure product excellence.
• Lead Quality Circle Completion (QCC) projects focused on resolving inefficiencies and achieving continuous operational improvements.
• Execute Lakshya projects successfully by meeting timelines, goals, and deliverables to support organizational advancement.
• Partner with Human Resources to develop multiskilled operators at critical stations, guaranteeing full coverage and operational flexibility across shifts.
• Ensure compliance with Training Needs Identification (TNI) and completion of soft skill development and e-learning modules, facilitating employee growth and feedback.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Coordinate internally with production operators, maintenance teams, safety officers, and quality assurance personnel.
• Engage externally with equipment manufacturers, regulatory bodies, auditors, and training providers to ensure compliance and operational excellence.

Qualifications and Experience

• Must possess a B.Tech or Diploma in Engineering or a related technical discipline, with preference for a BE/B.Tech degree.
• Requires a minimum of 8 to 12 years’ experience in production engineering or similar support roles, focusing on equipment troubleshooting and process enhancement in manufacturing environments.
