Senior Legal Specialist

Overview

This role involves leading the review, analysis, drafting, and negotiation of complex contracts to safeguard Qatar Airways Group’s interests and meet its business needs. The Senior Legal Specialist serves as the key legal contact for selected user departments within the Group, providing precise and commercially aligned legal counsel.

Primary Responsibilities

• Drafting, negotiating, and implementing an extensive range of simple to intricate commercial contracts.
• Managing strategic contracts in line with corporate and legal standards to protect company interests related to contractual matters.
• Evaluating and negotiating contracts with suppliers and service providers to ensure favorable terms.
• Collaborating with internal clients across the Qatar Airways Group as a dependable legal and commercial advisor.
• Suggesting and promoting enhancements for contract policies and procedures for continuous improvement.
• Delivering comprehensive contract review, analysis, and negotiation with a focus on quality.
• Detecting issues early and initiating escalation protocols when necessary.
• Resolving contractual disputes and identifying opportunities to refine contracting processes.
• Interpreting legal clauses within standard contract terms and conditions.
• Performing additional duties assigned by the Department Head related to the role.

Candidate Profile

• Holds a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least eight years’ relevant experience.
• Admitted to practice law in a recognized jurisdiction.
• Professional background includes experience in law firms or dedicated legal environments.
• Prior experience in a similar legal capacity.
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
• Skilled in legal drafting and expert in contract and commercial negotiations involving services and goods.
• Adept at interpreting complex vendor agreements.
• Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite, especially MS Word.
• Detail-oriented with strong presentation capabilities.
• Proven ability to handle complex negotiations and legal challenges.
• Efficient multitasker with ability to meet deadlines.
• Self-motivated with a proactive, can-do attitude.
• Experienced in managerial roles, capable of delegating, guiding teams, mentoring, coaching, and fostering collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications

• Qualification in a common law jurisdiction.
• Experience in multicultural contract management and legal environments.
• Familiarity with medium to large matrixed, cross-functional organizations.
• Background in contracts management.
