Senior Investigator - Workers’ Compensation Fraud and Noncompliance

Role Overview

Join the Division of Workers’ Compensation's Fraud and Noncompliance Unit as a Senior Investigator dedicated to uncovering and addressing workers' compensation violations. This full-time position located in Kansas City, MO, involves investigating cases related to fraud and noncompliance within the workers’ compensation system.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out thorough investigations into suspected violations and incidents, conducting interviews with suspects, victims, and witnesses while maintaining strict chain of custody protocols.
• Identify and engage with individuals and representatives from businesses or government entities to gather evidence of potential violations or attempts to divert resources.
• Collaborate as a liaison with internal staff, local law enforcement, prosecutors, and other government agencies to coordinate investigative and surveillance efforts.
• Collect, analyze, document, and safeguard facts, affidavits, statements, and other evidence to support legal proceedings; review background checks and compile comprehensive investigative reports.
• Scrutinize various records to identify violations of laws or regulations related to the agency's jurisdiction.
• Trace financial movements through banking institutions and dissect complex monetary transactions linked to cases.
• Provide testimony in criminal, civil, or administrative hearings as required.
• Engage in division and department-wide initiatives and programs actively.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of six years relevant experience in investigations OR a bachelor’s degree in a related field accompanied by at least two years of relevant investigative experience.
• The absence of post-secondary education will not exclude applicants from consideration solely on that basis.

Preferred Skills and Attributes

• Proven experience conducting face-to-face interviews with suspects and witnesses and producing detailed investigative documentation.
• Ability to organize and deliver information effectively to both public and professional audiences.
• Possession and maintenance of a valid driver’s license.
• Willingness and ability to travel as required, including overnight stays.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary for this position is $52,077, exclusive of adjustments for years of service that may raise total compensation. The State of Missouri provides a comprehensive benefits package, featuring a defined pension plan, generous leave policies, holiday time, and eligibility for health coverage. These benefits substantially enhance the overall compensation beyond the basic salary.

Additional Information

This role operates primarily from the office in Kansas City with some travel responsibilities. The unit emphasizes a positive and collaborative work environment with independent work supported by team members statewide.
