Position Overview
As a Security Officer during the Day Shift, you will actively patrol the ballpark premises, ensuring the safety and security of all guests, employees, and partners. Reporting to the Ballpark Security Manager within the Security and Transportation Department, you will operate as a full-time, non-exempt staff member focused on maintaining a secure environment at Petco Park.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols throughout the ballpark while maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor toward employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Respond promptly to safety incidents and criminal occurrences, taking actions per training and policy, including coordination with emergency responders as necessary.
- Perform thorough internal investigations for incidents, documenting detailed objective reports for each event and shift.
- Manage the Loading Dock post by inspecting incoming vehicles, checking delivery schedules, verifying driver identification, and maintaining accurate delivery logs.
- Monitor and operate closed-circuit television, access control systems, and fire alarm equipment effectively.
- Participate in briefing sessions to stay informed about ballpark events, including load-ins and load-outs.
- Act as the first responder for alarms, medical emergencies, and property damage incidents.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive matters.
- Keep accurate notes, logs, and ensure seamless communication of shift information to succeeding personnel.
- Prepare all required documentation including activity logs, incident reports, and repair forms clearly and punctually.
- Welcome all clients, employees, guests, and vendors professionally upon arrival.
- Adhere consistently to the established Ballpark Security protocols and procedures.
- Collaborate with different departments to promote a positive public image of the Club.
- Represent the Club in a professional and positive manner at all times.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Expertise
- Demonstrate reliability with consistent punctual attendance.
- Display high levels of discretion, integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
- Possess strong oral and written communication skills enabling effective interaction across various personnel levels and the public.
- Exhibit the capacity to work collaboratively and respectfully with others.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; experience with report writing and Motorola Solutions Avigilon CCTV system is advantageous but not required.
- Completion of criminal justice or security training through accredited institutions is considered a plus.
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is an asset.
Mandatory Requirements
- Hold a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Availability to work five flexible 8-hour shifts per week within the timeframe of 5:00 AM to 9:30 PM, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as operational needs dictate.
- Possess or obtain a BSIS Proprietary Security Guard certification or BSIS Guard Card within 30 days of hire.
- Prior experience in Law Enforcement, Public Safety, or Military service is preferred.
- Experience working at large public events or venues is highly desirable.
Compensation and Benefits
In compliance with California's pay transparency law, this role offers an hourly wage starting at $21.14. Part-time, non-union team members will have wages adjusted per the San Diego Living Wage Ordinance. Additional benefits include paid time off (PTO), employee discounts, and recognition programs.
