As part of this mission, SpaceX is creating a revolutionary Starlink Mobile satellite network to offer global cellular connectivity through the Starlink constellation. Partnering with telecom companies worldwide, this service will enable direct satellite-to-cell-phone coverage, designed to reach any phone within clear view of the sky. This initiative seeks to connect remote areas, aid emergency responders, and support devices in coverage-limited regions, vastly expanding Starlink's existing outreach.

Role Responsibilities

• Develop and advocate for broadband and spectrum policies that align with SpaceX’s objectives and Starlink’s success on domestic and international fronts.
• Prepare pleadings, advocacy letters, and other documentation to support SpaceX’s policy positions.
• Engage in outreach and satellite spectrum policy activities with government officials at all levels.
• Represent SpaceX at intergovernmental organizations including ITU, regional groups, and national administrations to promote company interests.
• Support securing U.S. licenses and regulatory compliance for all SpaceX spacecraft, earth stations, and Starlink services.
• Manage regulatory licensing application processes, compliance, and requirements for system and service licensing.
• Provide strategic regulatory advice to support business development and advocacy efforts.
• Work to optimize prospective satellite and telecommunications regulatory frameworks to support SpaceX’s business goals.

Requirements

• Possession of a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in engineering or telecommunications fields.
• Preferred expertise includes broadband and telecommunications policy, spectrum use and policy knowledge, radio frequency spectrum technology understanding, and experience interfacing with the Federal Communications Commission and other U.S. agencies.
• Familiarity with commercial and government entities in the telecommunications/mobile industry and experience with intergovernmental organizations.
• At least 5 years of experience handling regulatory and policy matters is advantageous.
• Knowledge of international telecommunications business and regulatory issues outside the U.S. is preferred.

Additional Information

• Travel commitment of approximately 20% is required.
• Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.
• This position is based in Washington, DC and requires onsite attendance; remote work is not an option.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position ranges from $150,000 to $215,000 annually, subject to individual qualifications and experience. Total rewards include possible long-term incentives such as company stock, stock options, long-term cash awards, discretionary bonuses, and stock purchase plans. Benefits cover comprehensive medical, vision, dental coverage, 401(k), disability and life insurance, paid parental leave, paid vacation of 3 weeks, and 10 or more paid holidays annually. Paid sick leave is accrued per company policy compliant with legal standards.

ITAR Compliance
