Retail Area Support Officer

Role Overview

This position involves providing mobile security support across various supermarket sites throughout Canterbury. The nature of this role is dynamic and fast-paced, requiring adaptability to different locations and shift patterns based on operational demands. A valid SIA licence is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a high-visibility security presence to deter theft, disruptive behaviour, and incidents related to the store environment.
• Regularly patrol retail floors, entry points, and store boundaries to ensure safety and deterrence.
• Monitor CCTV feeds vigilantly to identify suspicious behaviours promptly.
• Respond efficiently and effectively to alarms, emergencies, and other incidents.
• Perform searches adhering strictly to company policies and legal regulations.
• Collaborate with store management and local teams to mitigate risks and aid loss prevention efforts.
• Document incidents clearly and accurately in reports submitted without delay.
• Offer professional and courteous assistance to customers, helping with queries when needed.
• Manage difficult situations calmly, using de-escalation techniques to ensure safety.
• Comply fully with health and safety standards, legal requirements, and client-specific protocols.
• Travel between different store locations as operationally required and support broader security operations.

Candidate Profile

• Authorized to work in the UK with the ability to pass enhanced DBS and BS7858 security screenings.
• Holder of a current SIA licence for Door Supervisor or Security Guard roles, with relevant prior experience.
• Possess a full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.
• Background in retail security or customer-facing roles is advantageous.
• Strong observational aptitude coupled with sound judgement skills.
• Confident and effective in managing confrontation and conflict scenarios.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Dependable, proactive, and professional in approach.
• Flexible to work varied shifts across multiple locations, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
