Overview
Medical Murray is a private medical device company specializing in the design, development, and contract manufacturing of sophisticated catheter systems, permanent implants, and bioabsorbable products utilized in minimally invasive vascular, urology, and surgical procedures. The company excels in addressing complex device design challenges and supports projects from conception through final assembly and packaging. State-of-the-art labs enable shaping and testing of catheter tips with intricate geometry and integrated functions such as measurement, delivery, steering, and balloon dilation. Manufacturing operates under ISO 13485 Certified Class 7 cleanroom conditions, capable of precision molding of small parts and diverse materials including thermosets, thermoplastics, and bioabsorbable polymers. Multiple U.S. facilities provide comprehensive turnkey device development and contract manufacturing solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Research and Development projects from initial concept through commercialization stages.
- Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams across engineering, manufacturing, and quality departments to achieve project scope, timeline, and budget goals.
- Develop, maintain, and manage detailed project plans including schedules and milestones.
- Identify, monitor, and mitigate risks and issues affecting project progress.
- Maintain strong communication channels with internal stakeholders and external clients to ensure alignment and transparency.
- Support technical research activities and direct product development initiatives.
- Facilitate smooth design transfers to manufacturing while ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
- Prepare comprehensive project documentation and lead regular status meetings.
- Drive continuous improvement in R&D project methodologies and execution processes.
Qualifications
- Proven capabilities in Research and Product Development, preferably with medical devices or other regulated products.
- Demonstrated expertise in Project Management, including planning, execution, and successful delivery of technically complex projects.
- Strong analytical and research skills to analyze data, assess design alternatives, and guide evidence-based decisions.
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally and managing stakeholder communications and risk within R&D environments.
- Familiarity with ISO 13485 standards, design control processes, and regulatory and quality compliance requirements for medical devices preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or a technical discipline is required; advanced degrees or PMP certification are advantageous.
- Ability to work on-site in the Greater Chicago Area, multitask across projects, and thrive in a dynamic, innovative work atmosphere.
