Recreation Assistant

Overview

The Recreation Assistant role involves supporting the daily management of sports and recreational facilities and activities at Misk Sports Wadi and other locations in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role reports directly to the Recreation Supervisor and includes stepping into supervisory duties during absences or vacations as needed. This position is open exclusively to Saudi nationals.

Key Responsibilities

• Adhere strictly to the policies, employee conduct codes, standing orders, and procedures of Misk City and Key Facilities Management at all times.
• Ensure all tasks are carried out safely by following Misk City Health and Safety Management Systems, conducting risk assessments, and complying with facility standard operating procedures.
• Provide excellent customer service by handling inquiries and maintaining high customer care standards.
• Monitor cleanliness, safety, and general well-being of users and facilities, enforcing compliance with rules and regulations.
• Supervise and coach participants during sporting activities as necessary.
• Prepare and secure equipment for both sporting and non-sporting events, ensuring safety at all times.
• Assist in the preparation and execution of scheduled events alongside the Recreation Team.
• Maintain current training and qualifications to ensure personal competency in role duties.
• Provide coverage for other facilities during evenings, weekends, and public holidays when requested.
• Maintain personal fitness levels and qualifications required to fulfill the position’s responsibilities.
• Support safe operation of all sports facilities, buildings, and storage areas, including opening and closing procedures.
• Ensure smooth transitions between sessions and perform front-of-house and reception duties as needed.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with the public, recreation and sports staff, and event teams.
• Manage building and facility operations during supervisory coverage including administrative tasks like reporting, documentation, and compliance checks.
• Report and escalate any faults or damages in equipment or facility infrastructure promptly.
• Collaborate with the Sports Coordinator to organize community engaging events such as leagues, tournaments, and multi-sport activities.

Experience & Qualifications

• A minimum of two years’ experience in a sports center or gym setting is essential.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of the leisure industry and its operational standards.
• Effective English communication skills capable of managing difficult and sensitive customer interactions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, maintaining concentration and reacting swiftly to urgent situations.
• Understanding of health and safety protocols relevant to sports and recreational environments.
• Qualifications in leisure, sports, or gym related fields with evidence of ongoing personal and professional development.
• Coaching certification in at least two different sports disciplines.
• Valid First Aid certification.
• Completion of secondary school education.
