Role overview
The Ministry of Justice in Wellington is looking for a motivated People Experience (PX) Advisor to join the AskHR team on a full-time fixed-term basis until 29 June 2027. In this role, you will provide proactive, professional human resources guidance, support, and service to managers so they can deliver on agreed results and strategic priorities.
What you will do
- Partner with managers to resolve issues quickly and constructively, offering timely and responsive support that helps build effective employee relationships and practical business solutions.
- Help managers strengthen the capability and experience of their teams so people can contribute to business objectives and, where relevant, their own growth and development in the Ministry or the wider public sector.
- Contribute to the creation of HR policies and process guidance, with a strong emphasis on putting those frameworks into practice alongside Ministry managers.
- Support and assist with a range of ad hoc projects, including coordination and delivery tasks as needed.
What you need to succeed
To do well in this position, you should bring practical HR experience, confidence in giving advice grounded in policy and good practice, and the ability to coach and support people leaders. You’ll need to stay calm and balanced under pressure, helping others remain positive and focused. A proactive mindset, strong delivery drive, and a genuine desire to improve HR processes are also important.

Pay
The salary for this fixed-term role is expected to be between NZD 74,634 and NZD 100,846, depending on your skills and experience.
