Role Overview
As a Purchasing Officer, you will serve as the specialist overseeing the Procure to Pay (P2P) lifecycle within a dynamic, high-volume environment focused across Queensland and New South Wales mining operations. You will manage purchasing and invoice workflows in a SAP-driven system, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficient delivery. Your role involves diagnosing system issues and streamlining workflows to enhance the P2P process.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the entire P2P process including purchase orders, receipting, and invoice handling.
- Handle and resolve complex three-way matching discrepancies at scale.
- Monitor SAP ECC/S4 workflow using tools like VIM and Power BI to ensure system health.
- Serve as the escalation contact for operational sites and suppliers on P2P-related matters.
- Maintain the integrity of systems and uphold audit-compliant documentation standards.
- Collaborate with BPO providers to enhance accuracy, service levels, and operational efficiency.
- Champion supplier adoption of digital procurement platforms such as Ariba.
- Drive continuous improvements in automation, digitization, and workflow optimization.
Working Environment
Work from Peabody’s modern Fortitude Valley office with a hybrid arrangement of three days onsite and two days remote weekly. Core collaboration is focused on Tuesdays, with the benefit of an early finish at noon every Friday, supporting a balanced lifestyle.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be meticulous and comfortable managing high-volume, structured environments. A problem-solver with a detective mindset, you identify and resolve discrepancies proactively. Strong expertise with ERP systems, particularly SAP, and the ability to balance priorities while ensuring precision is essential. Integrity, accountability, and a proactive, solution-oriented approach are core to success at Peabody.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Demonstrated experience in SAP Procure-to-Pay and accounts payable functions.
- Proficiency in three-way matching, invoice reconciliation, and resolving workflow challenges.
- Experience with SAP VIM, Ariba, or comparable digital procurement technologies.
- Background in shared services or high-volume transactional contexts.
- Analytical skills to identify root causes and enhance processes.
- Ability to engage effectively with operational teams and external suppliers.
- Experience in mining, energy, or multi-site operations is highly valued.
