Role Overview

The Purchaser plays a vital role in managing procurement activities to secure materials, equipment, and services necessary for seamless project delivery. This position entails identifying suppliers, soliciting quotations, analyzing bids, negotiating favorable terms, issuing purchase orders, and coordinating with both internal teams and suppliers, all while adhering strictly to procurement policies and procedures to support uninterrupted project workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Review incoming purchase requisitions from internal departments.
• Identify and source qualified suppliers, obtaining competitive quotations.
• Issue Requests for Quotation (RFQs) to pre-approved vendors.
• Analyze commercial offers and develop comparative bid assessments.
• Negotiate prices, delivery timelines, payment conditions, and contractual terms to maximize company value.
• Generate and issue Purchase Orders in line with internal guidelines.
• Maintain follow-up with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and compliance with orders.
• Collaborate with logistics, warehousing, engineering, and project teams on procurement progress and material receipt.
• Address supplier-related issues regarding quality, quantity discrepancies, delivery delays, and documentation gaps.
• Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier databases, contracts, and supporting documents.
• Track purchase order status and update stakeholders regularly on procurement activities.
• Contribute to supplier performance assessments and continuous improvement processes.
• Uphold procurement policy compliance, ensuring ethical practices and meeting HSE standards.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, engineering, or related field.
• 1 to 3 years of procurement or purchasing experience, preferably in construction, engineering, or industrial sectors.
• Experience with procuring construction materials such as civil, mechanical, and electrical items is advantageous.

Technical Competencies

• Advanced Excel skills including formulas, PivotTables, and lookups (XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP) for data analysis.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with ERP procurement systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) is a plus.
• Strong understanding of procurement cycle, RFQs, bid evaluations, purchase orders, and supplier relationship management.
• Ability to prepare commercial comparison reports and procurement documentation.
