Job Overview
The Psychometrist at UCSF Health is a specialized professional supporting the Clinical Trials Team at the Memory and Aging Center. This full-time role involves administering, scoring, and interpreting psychological assessments for clinical trials involving cognitive and neurological health in adults. The position is crucial for maintaining the integrity and continuity of research studies, ensuring standardized and valid test results.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer neuropsychological assessments to healthy individuals and adult patients facing cognitive or neurological challenges, including interviews and test scoring following standardized protocols.
- Communicate significant findings promptly to research physicians.
- Collaborate with study sponsors and rating vendors to certify cognitive rater qualifications and address inquiries efficiently.
- Prepare normative data for psychometric instruments as part of research tasks.
- Provide document translation assistance for monolingual participants and families, if bilingual.
- Organize and attend meetings, prepare recruitment materials, and occasionally participate in community outreach activities.
- Support research activities while adhering to all relevant regulatory guidelines.
- Contribute to special research projects as assigned by the team.
Qualifications
Mandatory:
- Proficiency in administering, scoring, and reporting psychological tests.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging diverse patients and caregivers.
- Strong organizational abilities to manage priorities in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology or a related discipline with at least one year of experience in psychological testing.
- Demonstrated reliability and strong work ethic.
- Ability to perform effectively under stress.
- Experience working with elderly populations.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Psychology or a related field.
- Psychometrist licensure or significant experience in psychometric methods.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Experience with neuropsychological assessments and dementia rating scales within geriatric populations and research contexts.
