Job Purpose
The Project Scheduler will support Programme Managers and Project teams to ensure the capital projects portfolio is executed on schedule, within budget, and meets business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and manage detailed project schedules and establish baseline timelines.
- Monitor critical paths and float consumption, advising corrective measures when necessary.
- Set budgets, track project expenditures, forecast costs accurately, assess work value and accruals, and ensure expenses are properly coded.
- Forecast resource needs and coordinate resource leveling alongside work package owners.
- Document and facilitate any changes during project execution.
- Evaluate and challenge project risk provisions.
- Maintain updated project baselines reflecting re-forecasted data.
- Ensure timely and precise capture and reporting of project outputs.
- Analyze trends and forecasts, partnering with Regional Leads and Project Controls Managers to identify risks and conflicts.
- Produce summary reports highlighting potential issues, risks, upcoming milestones, and necessary actions, prompting interventions as needed.
- Assist Project Managers and teams in delivering projects within time, budget, and defined objectives.
- Support the Lead Project Control Engineer and Area Project Controls Manager in overseeing delivery area programmes.
- Encourage full participation and coordination among project team members.
- Manage complex delivery team information to enable effective capital programme oversight.
- Contribute to business success by supporting development and management of new business processes and systems while maintaining service quality.
- Collaborate with and influence Programme Office staff, project managers, and others to ensure best practice implementation.
- Assist Programme Managers with strategic planning for future project phases.
- Independently design and generate various reporting formats and outputs as needed.
- Manage relevant project management tools and systems effectively.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- A degree in project management, engineering, or construction-related discipline.
- At least five years of scheduling experience, proficient with MS Project and Primavera P6; experience with MS Power BI and NEC contracts is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of project delivery processes and timelines.
- Demonstrable client-focused professional conduct aligned with industry best practices.
- Proactive in developing and enhancing written best practice materials such as scheduling procedures and handbooks.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Experience with project, contract, and financial management tools like Maximo, PCM, and Oracle.
- Strong presentation skills, capable of working effectively with contractors and consultants.
- Sound commercial awareness related to governance, control, and performance analysis of large, complex portfolios.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and meeting project deadlines.
- Experience fostering strategic partnerships with key stakeholders.
- Five or more years' civil/offshore project experience.
