Role Overview

This role offers a unique blend of wellness and gaming product engineering. The successful candidate will help craft delightful, playful experiences that make self-care simple and fun. As the fifth engineer on the team, you will have meaningful influence on product evolution and team practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive the growth and development of Finch’s app as a core member of the engineering team.
• Operate with considerable independence and agility through full product cycles from inception to release.
• Contribute to defining team standards and tooling to enhance engineering performance.
• Collaborate closely with product designers, creative artists, animators, and company founders.
• Serve as a strategic partner in shaping the product, company culture, and organizational values.

• Innovate how mobile device interactions can positively support mental health.
• Redesign social features to enable unique supportive experiences among users.
• Develop engaging wellness activities including CBT and mental health insights to assist users through life's challenges.
• Craft playful, sustainable self-care experiences that keep users motivated daily.
• Build a versatile platform offering mental health tools for a broad range of self-care needs and familiarity levels.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum of five years’ experience building consumer-facing mobile or full-stack applications.
• Strong product orientation with a passion for creating user-friendly experiences; capable of weighing tradeoffs to optimize user satisfaction.
• Expertise in risk mitigation for new feature ideas, ranging from rapid iterations to new product development, with a proactive and urgent work style.
• Proficiency in designing clean, maintainable APIs.
• Experience conducting numerous A/B tests and using data analytics alongside qualitative feedback to guide decisions.
• Knowledge of engineering best practices for scalable and robust mobile and web products.
• Ability to simplify complex problems into elegant solutions.
• Availability for at least six hours overlapping with core coordination hours (8am to 6pm PST).
• Preferred qualifications include experience with Flutter mobile development and backgrounds in wellness or gaming industries.
