Role overview
Elecnor is a major Spanish group with a long track record in infrastructure, renewable energy, services, and new technology. The business has operated for more than 65 years, works across 55 countries, and employs around 21,000 people worldwide. Its activities span electricity, gas, industrial plants, rail, telecommunications, water, control systems, construction, maintenance services, environmental works, installations maintenance, and aerospace engineering.
The Procurement Manager will lead procurement operations and ensure that sourcing activity supports project delivery, budget control, and quality expectations. The role calls for a strategic mindset, strong negotiation capability, solid knowledge of construction materials and equipment, and the ability to build productive supplier relationships. You will work closely with internal teams to secure timely supply and keep costs under control.
Key duties
- Shape and roll out procurement plans that align with project needs and wider business goals.
- Research, assess, and select suppliers, then negotiate contracts and commercial terms that work well for the business.
- Partner with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand specifications and buying requirements.
- Arrange the sourcing, purchase, and delivery of construction materials, equipment, and services within project schedules and budgets.
- Track supplier performance, address problems, and introduce corrective measures where quality, cost, or delivery standards are not met.
- Carry out market analysis to keep up with trends, pricing movements, and new technologies.
- Keep procurement documentation accurate and current, including contracts, purchase orders, and supplier agreements.
- Oversee stock levels, reduce excess inventory, and improve turnover to support cost efficiency.
- Build strong working relationships with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to support collaboration and unlock savings or added value.
- Ensure procurement activity remains aligned with relevant laws, regulations, and industry compliance requirements in construction.
Qualifications and experience
The role requires valid Australian work rights, a current driver licence, and a White Card. A bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, construction management, or a related discipline is also needed. Previous experience in procurement or purchasing within the construction sector is required.
Skills and working style
You should be highly analytical and detail-oriented, with the ability to interpret data, identify patterns, and make sound decisions. Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential, along with confidence using MS Office and procurement systems. The role also demands sound knowledge of procurement regulations and standards, strong organisation under pressure, the ability to juggle multiple priorities, and natural leadership skills for guiding and supporting others.
Inclusive hiring
Elecnor states that it is committed to equal employment opportunity and an inclusive, respectful recruitment process. Applications are welcomed from people of all backgrounds and communities, including veterans, active defence reserve members, people of all ages and abilities, people of all sexual orientations and gender identities, culturally diverse candidates, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The company also supports reasonable adjustments during recruitment for anyone who needs accessibility assistance.
