Role overview

The Policy Officer, Aboriginal Policy Reform and Accountability, plays a key role in supporting initiatives that aim to improve outcomes for First Peoples across the Department’s ministerial portfolios. The position contributes to department-wide coordination that advances self-determination and supports efforts to close the gap. You will work alongside colleagues across the department to help shape consistent and connected approaches that transform government systems in support of self-determination.

Key accountabilities

  • Assist in providing policy advice on complex and high-priority policy issues, while keeping in step with broader government commitments relating to First Peoples.
  • Help coordinate the department’s role in delivering the National Agreement on Closing the Gap, the Victorian Aboriginal Affairs Framework, and related cross-portfolio reforms and strategies.
  • Prepare strong written materials such as briefs, correspondence, presentations, and reports.

Special measure / eligibility
