Planning Engineer - Pumps

Overview

Weir Gabbioneta s.r.l. is seeking a dedicated Planning Engineer to join its team based in Jubail, Saudi Arabia. This role is crucial within the Projects/Operations/Service department, focusing on pump manufacturing, repair, overhaul, and servicing activities. The engineer will be tasked with developing and maintaining comprehensive project schedules to ensure timely deliveries and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and update detailed project timelines for pump-related manufacturing, repairs, testing, and onsite service operations.
• Use Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar software to design work plans, track progress, and generate status reports.
• Collaborate closely with project managers, workshop personnel, procurement teams, engineering, quality assurance, and service departments to facilitate seamless project execution.
• Monitor schedule adherence, detect delays or risks early, and recommend remedial measures.
• Produce daily, weekly, and monthly progress and look-ahead reports to inform stakeholders on project status.
• Track essential milestones including materials readiness, machining, assembly, inspections, testing, packaging, and delivery phases.
• Assist resource allocation planning involving manpower, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
• Identify and communicate the impact of scope modifications, material shortages, or client-driven changes on project schedules.
• Maintain meticulous project documentation for internal use and client reporting.
• Participate actively in project review meetings, providing vital inputs to support informed decision-making.
• Ensure all planning activities comply with the organization's quality, safety, and operational protocols.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is mandatory.
• Applicant must hold Saudi citizenship.
• At least three years’ experience in project planning, preferably within the pumps industry, rotating equipment, manufacturing, repair, or oil and gas services sectors.
• Good comprehension of pump parts, repair workflows, workshops operations, and project execution stages.
• Proficient in creating project schedules, progress reports, and dashboards.
• Experienced in using Primavera P6, MS Project, and Microsoft Excel for planning purposes.

Skills and Competencies

• Excellent skills in project planning, scheduling, and effective coordination.
• Strong understanding of project lifecycles, work breakdown structures, and milestone management.
• Able to interpret technical documentation, drawings, and scopes related to pumps and rotating equipment.
• Exceptional analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
• Strong communication skills and ability to follow up effectively.
• Capable of managing workload under pressure and prioritizing tasks efficiently.
• Fluent in English; Arabic language proficiency is a plus.
• High level of accuracy and detail orientation in compiling reports.

Preferred Experience

• Previous involvement with pump repairs, overhauls, manufacturing, or aftermarket servicing projects.
• Familiarity with API pumps, centrifugal pumps, mechanical seals, electric motors, and associated rotating machinery.
• Experience in serving clients in oil and gas, petrochemical, power generation, or heavy industrial sectors.
• Knowledge of project control practices such as cost monitoring and delay analyses is advantageous.
