Planning and Projects Officer

About the Role

Hume City Council, recognized for being one of Australia's fastest-growing and culturally diverse councils, is seeking a Planning and Projects Officer on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This full-time position offers an annual salary of $99,526.96 plus superannuation and is based in Broadmeadows, Victoria. The role focuses on providing comprehensive project and operational planning assistance to the Community Facilities Unit to ensure timely and integrated accomplishment of departmental projects and goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the development and rollout of critical strategic initiatives such as strategies, policies, programs, projects, and events aligned with the objectives of the Community Facilities Unit.
• Prepare business case proposals to aid in managing the capital works budget for community facilities.
• Oversee and coordinate specific capital works projects in partnership with Infrastructure Delivery, the Project Management Office, and Facility Leaders.
• Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to advance strategic priorities and tackle complex challenges.
• Review and update policies relevant to the unit, including the Community Facility Access and Use Policy and related materials.
• Assist in revising key unit guidelines, such as the Bookable Business Rules.
• Provide supervision, support, and performance management for the Promotions and Marketing Officer.
• Work with Strategic Communications and Facility Leaders to implement targeted marketing campaigns aimed at enhancing facility visibility, bookings, and usage.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Tertiary qualification in Social Planning, Community Facility Planning, or equivalent practical project or planning experience in related community facilities or services.
• Experience in community services combined with project planning, design, or delivery.
• Proficiency in both quantitative and qualitative research methods, including needs analysis and community engagement.
• Background in community services or in managing project development and delivery that addresses community needs.
• Ability to develop and evaluate marketing and promotion strategies within community or public sector environments to boost engagement and utilization (desirable).
• Proven capacity to build effective partnerships and gain consensus across diverse organizational groups.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of generating reports, presentations, and professional correspondence.
• Current Victorian Drivers Licence.
