Role Overview
The Payroll Manager will be directly responsible for managing comprehensive payroll operations in Ireland for over 2,000 employees across multiple unionised sites using ADP GlobalView (SAP Payroll). This position requires active participation in daily payroll processes, governance oversight, issue resolution, technical compliance with Irish statutory and collective bargaining requirements, and collaboration with HR, Finance, and site leaders to enhance control measures and drive continuous improvements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead full-cycle Irish payroll processing for a large multi-site employee base, ensuring accurate and timely payments.
- Manage payroll operations hands-on, including validation, gross-to-net reviews, post-payroll reconciliation, and enforcing segregation of duties and compliance with legislation and company policies.
- Supervise and mentor remote and geographically dispersed payroll team members, providing daily technical support, training, and onboarding.
- Coordinate with HR and management on shift schedules, premium payments, accrual changes, and ensure payroll system alignment with union agreements.
- Travel to company locations periodically to engage with HR and business partners, facilitate employee payroll consultations, and foster collaboration.
- Compile and submit payroll-related financial and grant reports, ensuring data validation and audit readiness.
- Participate in the implementation and oversight of a new Time and Attendance system to guarantee seamless integration with payroll operations and maintain control standards.
- Administer payroll system data governance, manage payroll calendar, interface coordination, and ensure resolution of any payroll issues promptly.
- Perform and document payroll controls and SOX compliance activities, partner with auditors, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Lead testing for payroll system enhancements, including updates to configurations, interfaces, and processes.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focusing on process standardization, automation, and documentation of payroll procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience paired with a minimum of seven years managing Irish payroll operations.
- Proven expertise delivering payroll for 2,000+ employees, within multi-site unionized environments, ensuring statutory compliance and adherence to collective agreements.
- Experience as a hands-on manager providing leadership, coaching, troubleshooting, and stakeholder engagement.
- Payroll certification (IPASS) is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Proficiency with payroll software such as ADP GlobalView, SAP Payroll, UKG Dimensions, Kronos Workforce Central, Workday, or Core HR systems.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, V-lookups, and formulas; familiarity with macros is beneficial.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills with a detail-oriented and data-driven approach.

- This role requires approximately 10% travel to various ADI sites in Ireland.
