Vicadeti Logistics is seeking a dedicated Payroll and Benefits Manager to join its People and Culture department based in Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria. This full-time, onsite role is essential for managing payroll and benefits operations across multiple countries within a dynamic fintech environment.
Role Summary
The Payroll and Benefits Manager holds a pivotal operational position responsible for ensuring the accurate, timely, and regulatory-compliant processing of payroll and benefits for all active markets. This role supports a multi-country payroll framework, focusing on continual process enhancement while serving as a trusted partner to People Enablement and Governance leadership.
Primary Duties
- Oversee the entire payroll cycle ensuring precision, completeness, and on-time salary disbursement;
- Maintain detailed payroll documentation with audit-ready change logs;
- Collaborate with HR and Finance to integrate payroll inputs such as new hires, terminations, salary modifications, bonuses, and deductions;
- Reconcile payroll data with financial ledgers and resolve discrepancies promptly;
- Manage the payroll schedule and anticipate risks to uphold timely processing;
- Guarantee adherence to payroll-related statutory regulations including PAYE, pension schemes, NHF, NHIS, and equivalents in other African markets;
- Prepare and submit statutory remittances punctually and accurately;
- Stay abreast of changes in tax and employment laws, updating payroll workflows accordingly;
- Serve as the main contact for regulatory payroll queries and audits;
- Administer payroll deductions and contributions for employee benefits, ensuring accurate enrollment and updates in payroll runs;
- Support benefits renewal processes with payroll insights and financial analysis;
- Continuously optimize payroll system setups to mirror business rules and statutory requirements;
- Enhance payroll process efficiency to reduce errors and processing time;
- Develop comprehensive payroll reporting tools for People, Finance, and leadership teams;
- Manage relationships with payroll service providers, regulatory bodies, pension administrators, and benefits brokers, ensuring service level agreements are fulfilled;
- Maintain thoroughly organized and audit-ready payroll records;
- Lead payroll audits, preparing required documentation and resolving issues efficiently;
- Detect and escalate payroll risks proactively to People Enablement and Governance heads;
- Ensure compliance with data protection standards regarding personal data of customers, employees, and partners.
Qualifications and Skills
- At least seven years of hands-on payroll management experience, including multi-country payroll operations;
- In-depth understanding of Nigerian payroll regulations (PAYE, PenCom, NHF, NSITF) and familiarity with other African regulatory environments;
- Proven background working in regulated or financial service sectors;
- Practical experience with payroll systems and HRIS platforms, including configuration and process optimization;
- Strong analytical skills with high accuracy in numerical reconciliation;
- Development and implementation experience of payroll processes beyond daily management;
- Relevant professional certifications like CIPM, ICAN, or CIPP are a plus;
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong collaboration, and stakeholder management capabilities.
Additional Information
This position reports directly to the Head of People Enablement and Governance. Employment is full-time and located in Lekki, Lagos. The successful candidate will engage with diverse internal teams and external partners to ensure smooth payroll and benefits management compliant with all applicable regulations.
