Patient Intake Specialist (Remote)

About the Role

Starting from September 14, 2026, this remote position offers an hourly wage of $18.00, with a schedule from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. Candidates located in the Central or Eastern Time Zones are given priority during selection.

As a Patient Intake Specialist, you will facilitate the admissions process for new patients by accurately collecting required information, verifying insurance coverage, reviewing prescriptions, and coordinating necessary steps for care initiation. This role prioritizes thorough documentation and patient coordination over handling a large volume of calls.

You will engage with patients, their caregivers, and various internal teams to ensure all intake requirements are fulfilled efficiently and in compliance, minimizing delays in commencing care.

Responsibilities

• Accurately gather and enter demographic and clinical details for new patient admissions.
• Verify insurance eligibility and review benefit plans.
• Submit authorization requests and monitor their status.
• Evaluate prescription validity and identify any missing or required documentation.
• Communicate with patients and referral sources to collect necessary intake information.
• Collaborate with internal departments to ensure timely initiation of care.
• Maintain documentation that is accurate and compliant with HIPAA regulations.

Qualifications & Fit

• Minimum two years of experience in healthcare intake, medical office administration, or insurance support roles.
• Preference for candidates experienced in insurance verification or authorization processing.
• Background in home health, durable medical equipment (DME), or medical office settings is advantageous.
• High school diploma or GED is mandatory.
• Proven ability to handle multiple intake cases simultaneously with detail orientation and organization skills.
• Comfortable working independently in a remote environment with strong time-management, accountability, and self-direction.
• Familiarity with healthcare documentation and insurance processes.
