Role overview

Laverty Pathology, part of Healius, is looking for a permanent full-time Pathology Collector in Lindfield, New South Wales. This position focuses on providing accurate specimen collection and a reassuring patient experience in a busy healthcare setting.

Work schedule

The standard roster runs Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, with Saturday shifts from 8:00 am to 11:00 am.

What the role involves

As a Pathology Collector, you will take blood and other specimens while delivering courteous, professional and compassionate service to every patient. The role is important to ensuring samples are processed correctly and promptly so diagnosis and care can move forward without delay.

Daily duties

• Collect blood and non-blood specimens with careful attention to accuracy and detail.
• Create a calm, friendly and professional environment for patients.
• Prepare specimens and package them for transport according to required procedures.
• Keep records accurate and follow all necessary processes.
• Help keep the collection centre running smoothly each day.

Candidate profile

This opportunity can suit experienced pathology collectors as well as people from healthcare or strong customer service backgrounds. Helpful experience may come from aged care, disability support, nursing or other people-focused roles. A caring attitude, reliability and willingness to learn are valued highly.

Qualifications and experience

• Prior pathology collection experience is preferred but not required.
• Certificate III in Pathology Collection is preferred but not required.
• Experience in healthcare, such as aged care, disability support or nursing, or strong customer-facing experience is desirable.

Requirements

• A current Working With Children Check, or the ability to obtain one before starting.
• Proof of immunisation requirements, including Hepatitis B.

Training

The role includes a 6-week paid training program through Healius Academy. Training starts with two full-time weeks, followed by at least 25 hours per week. The program may be shortened for candidates with prior relevant experience.
