Parent Educator

Position Overview

The Parent Educator at DePelchin Children’s Center in Houston, TX, is a full-time role responsible for leading curriculum-based parent groups, presenting in community settings, and recruiting program participants through outreach efforts aligned with grant directives. This role includes conducting participant intake and assessments, creating treatment plans, and offering ongoing case management to group members. Collaboration with the community to provide advocacy and referrals is also a key component.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage in active community outreach to attract families to participate in programs.
• Perform intake assessments and screenings to identify appropriate support and recommendations for clients.
• Deliver continuous case management tailored to fathers enrolled in the programs, involving family feedback.
• Formulate comprehensive service plans incorporating both internal and external community interventions to meet identified client needs.
• Support clients by facilitating referrals to community resources and advocating for access to necessary entitlements and services.
• Maintain accurate records and adhere to agency documentation standards.
• Track and report monthly program statistics and service data for accountability and billing.
• Conduct curriculum-driven group sessions for families as needed.

Required and Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; social work or related human services fields preferred.
• Completion of curriculum training or obtaining certification within the first year of employment is required; employment is dependent on acquiring this certification/licensure.
• At least one year of relevant experience is preferred.
• Fluency in English is required; bilingual in Spanish is advantageous.

Work Environment and Schedule

• Work primarily based out of home office and community locations.
• Standard hours Monday through Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., with occasional Saturdays for special events.
• Frequent travel required; candidate must have reliable personal transportation, valid Texas driver’s license, and up-to-date auto insurance.
