About the Role
A newly created Office Manager position is available at a growing SME based in Stockton-On-Tees specializing in technical engineering. The role involves independent management of office duties, working closely with the business owner and engineers to maintain smooth daily operations. The company values a modern, supportive work environment and offers a permanent full-time position with a salary range from £35,000 to £40,000 depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee bookkeeping activities including tracking quotes, invoicing, reconciliations, and purchase orders using accounting software such as XERO or SAGE.
- Prepare and issue quotations for customers, with training and software support provided.
- Manage expense tracking and reimbursement processes through HUB DOC system.
- Plan labor schedules and organize engineers’ diaries and workloads efficiently.
- Maintain company policies and ensure compliance with ISO accreditations.
- Monitor holiday approvals and absenteeism including sickness tracking.
- Track company assets and materials usage.
- Serve as the first point of contact for inbound work inquiries and new customer questions.
- Order office and operational supplies for field teams.
- Monitor customer satisfaction and oversee project progress from initiation to completion.
- Participate in business development by generating new project leads via social networking, with bonuses of 5% of project profits for successful deals.
Candidate Profile
- Experienced with XERO or SAGE accounting systems; relevant financial or accounting expertise is essential.
- Capable of commuting to Stockton-On-Tees office five days per week.
- Reliable, trustworthy, and conscientious due to trusted access to sensitive business information.
- Preferably has experience working within a field-based company involving traveling engineers.
- Background in engineering, technical manufacturing, or similar technical sectors is advantageous.
- Familiarity with ISO accreditation standards is a plus.
- Comfortable working independently in the office environment.
