Monitor/Aide

Position Overview

We are currently seeking a dedicated Monitor/Aide to join First Student in Vancouver, British Columbia. This role epitomizes our dedication to safety and superior customer service. The Monitor/Aide supports operational management and collaborates with drivers to facilitate the safe execution of transport routes. Key duties include the handling, securing, and unloading of wheelchairs to ensure passenger safety and comfort.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain familiarity with assigned routes and vigilantly oversee the well-being of passengers throughout trips.
• Report passenger conduct issues and update the driver on stop-related conditions.
• Assist in inspecting the bus before and after trips to maintain safety and functionality.
• Support students during the boarding and disembarking processes.
• Engage cooperatively with school staff, students, and parents to promote a positive experience.
• Participate in all safety and training sessions to uphold high standards.
• Manage emergency evacuations effectively, including operation of the emergency exit door.
• Frequently open and close service doors and navigate bus steps multiple times daily.
• Ensure the bus interior is kept clean.
• Help the driver safely maneuver the vehicle in reverse when required.

Required Skills and Experience

• Strong verbal communication abilities to interact effectively with passengers and personnel.
• Keen attention to detail to ensure passenger safety and compliance with protocols.
• Availability for early morning shifts as required by schedule.
• Sound judgment and problem-solving capabilities under pressure.
• Capacity to handle stressful situations calmly and efficiently.
• Experience or ability to load, secure, and unload wheelchairs properly.

Compensation and Benefits
