Mechanical Project Manager

About the Role

A fast-expanding contractor specializing in mechanical services is looking to appoint a skilled Senior Mechanical Project Manager to their project delivery team. This senior leadership position suits a dynamic individual who excels in demanding settings and successfully guides projects from initial planning stages through to final completion.

The role is pivotal in guaranteeing that projects are executed safely, efficiently, adhere to timelines and budgets, while nurturing strong client relationships and maintaining high standards of quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Take complete responsibility for the delivery of mechanical projects beginning from pre-construction up to final handover.
• Create and oversee project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and allocation of resources.
• Coordinate with design, engineering, BIM, procurement, quality assurance, and site teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Use internal project control tools to track progress and comply with reporting requirements.
• Regularly visit sites to assess performance, safety adherence, workmanship quality, and schedule progress.
• Identify potential risks early and deploy strategies to mitigate them.
• Manage subcontractors and suppliers, including administration of contracts and performance evaluation.
• Control financial aspects such as costs, cash flow, and implement value engineering initiatives.
• Ensure work complies with mechanical standards, relevant building regulations, and health and safety laws.
• Deliver weekly progress updates to clients and internal teams.
• Prepare monthly commercial and schedule reports for senior management.
• Work collaboratively with company directors and leadership teams to align with business goals and strategic plans.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and other external parties to encourage ongoing business and partnerships.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience managing mechanical construction projects at a Project Manager or Contracts Manager level.
• Prior experience as a Project Engineer is considered an advantage.
• Extensive technical understanding of mechanical building service systems, including HVAC and process installations.
• Demonstrated ability to concurrently manage complex, multidisciplinary projects.
• Superior organizational, leadership, and communication capabilities.
• Commercially competent with experience in budgeting and cost control.
• Able to perform effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Willing to travel across Europe as necessary.
• Possession of a full driving licence.
