- Translate failure analysis into enhanced designs, improved materials, and stricter engineering standards.
- Utilize test results and real-world feedback to iteratively enhance product functionality and durability.
- Drive research and development efforts aimed at advancing wheel hub bearing technologies and explore emerging design and material possibilities.
- Conduct benchmarking to identify competitive gaps and incorporate findings into future product development.
- Oversee detailed design development from initial concept to product launch, ensuring compliance with performance and manufacturing standards.
- Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) practices and adhere to engineering best practices for precision.
- Develop and manage CAD models and drawings related to product design, ensuring alignment with APQP and validation guidelines.
- Maintain critical documentation such as DFMEA, DVP, Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), and engineering standards.
- Collaborate with global suppliers to ensure production designs meet quality and compliance standards, resolving technical issues as they arise.
- Contribute to enhancing engineering team processes, documentation consistency, and fostering knowledge sharing and mentorship within the team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Applied Science.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in bearing design, preferably within the automotive industry.
- Proficient with CAD software (2D and 3D), such as AutoCAD or Inventor.
- Strong understanding of GD&T standards (ASME Y14.5) and APQP methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical testing, materials science including metallurgy, hardness, and tensile properties.
- Adept in failure analysis with a proven ability to drive design enhancements based on findings.
- Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems, or Autodesk Vault is advantageous.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- The role is based predominantly onsite with a hybrid work model of four days onsite and one day remote each week.
- Standard business hours apply, with occasional necessity for extended hours to support project timelines or urgent issues.
