Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Overview

We are looking for a skilled and driven Mechanical Design Engineer with substantial experience in Siemens NX and PLM Teamcenter to join our team. The successful candidate will possess a solid mechanical engineering background and outstanding CAD modeling and drafting capabilities. This role involves collaborating closely with various departments to develop innovative, high-quality product designs. Additionally, the engineer will engage deeply with Product Lifecycle Management processes to support design, development, and product release procedures, maintaining design integrity and efficiency throughout the product lifecycle.

Team Context

This position is part of a global engineering group supporting the BiPass product line, liquid cooling solutions, and drop-down heatsinks within Molex India Business Services.

Key Responsibilities

• Create 3D models and assemblies of mechanical systems using Siemens NX software, ensuring accuracy and compliance with design requirements.
• Interpret technical specifications and customer requirements in collaboration with supervisors and team members to develop detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and designs.
• Prepare and maintain engineering documents such as bills of materials (BOMs), engineering change orders (ECOs), and release packages using Teamcenter.
• Organize and control design and CAD files, ensuring version control and data accuracy within Teamcenter; participate in design reviews and interdisciplinary meetings to provide technical input and suggest design improvements.
• Conduct tolerance analysis and verify parts and assemblies to guarantee proper fit, form, and function.
• Carry out design feasibility assessments to detect potential challenges or constraints and propose optimizations.
• Work closely with manufacturing and production teams to resolve design issues, address manufacturing discrepancies, and aid in developing efficient manufacturing methods.
• Keep abreast of industry developments and best practices in CAD modeling, Siemens NX, and Teamcenter to enhance design quality and process efficiency.
• Perform any other duties relevant to the role as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in product design, product testing systems, and knowledge of manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with electromechanical products, components, and assemblies.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes including molding, sheet metal tooling, component fabrication, and assembly techniques.
• Proficiency in Siemens NX for creating 3D solid models and 2D drafts.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, able to convey technical information clearly and effectively.
• Good teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with product design processes such as PDP and product testing methodologies.
• Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Competency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to assess design risks, develop mitigation strategies, and evaluate alternative solutions.
• Capability to work independently, handle multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Advanced proficiency in Siemens NX, Teamcenter, and PLM/PDM systems.
• Experience working within the connector or electromechanical products sectors.
• Expertise in designing products aligned with customer needs.
• A strong mechanical engineering foundation to effectively apply principles in product design.
