About Lumilens

Lumilens is pioneering the essential photonics technology that enables next-generation AI supercomputing. Developing chip-to-chip optical interconnects and scalable photonic engines, Lumilens aims to revolutionize computing performance by making it faster, cooler, and more energy efficient. As a well-funded startup backed by Mayfield and guided by industry veterans, Lumilens provides a unique opportunity to innovate from the silicon platform upwards in optical infrastructure.

Role Overview

We are looking to hire a Materials Planner to bolster our expanding team. This key position is responsible for material planning and readiness related to optical transceivers, silicon photonics, and associated manufacturing operations that drive our photonic product lines. The role includes managing demand, supply, and fulfillment planning using Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems, maintaining precise bills of material and ERP master data, and ensuring timely issuance of purchase planning signals and production work orders. Collaboration with procurement, manufacturing, engineering, quality assurance, and inventory teams is critical to maintaining material availability, supporting engineering changes, and delivering transparency on shortages and production progress. This role significantly impacts production flow, inventory management, and timely product delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage demand and supply planning within MRP for optical transceivers, silicon photonics assemblies, and related components supporting prototypes, new product introductions, and ongoing production.
  • Ensure the accuracy and upkeep of bills of material, part attributes, planning parameters, and ERP master data to facilitate planning, order fulfillment, and traceability.
  • Promptly issue purchase planning notifications to procurement teams to maintain supply continuity of long lead-time components such as optical parts, semiconductors, and electromechanical devices.
  • Coordinate and dispatch production work orders aligned with build schedules, material availability, and manufacturing priorities.
  • Adjust demand planning in response to engineering change orders, modified build requirements, product qualifications, and transitions, communicating impacts to procurement and operations.
  • Develop and maintain reporting for material position including line of balance, shortage tracking, and clear-to-build assessments.
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, sourcing, manufacturing, quality, and operational teams to support product readiness and meet company-wide delivery and inventory objectives.
  • Perform additional tasks assigned by management relevant to evolving business needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, supply chain management, or related discipline with over 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven expertise in material line of balance analytics and clear-to-build evaluation in manufacturing contexts.
  • Strong understanding of materials planning fundamentals like master data control, ordering policies, bill of materials governance, planning releases, and fulfillment management.
  • Experienced user of MRP and ERP systems tailored for complex manufacturing and supply chain processes.
  • Advanced analytical capabilities with proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, mathematics, and statistics.

Preferred Skills

  • Advanced working knowledge of MRP and ERP tools in diverse and rapidly scaling manufacturing environments.
  • Experience within optical transceiver, silicon photonics, semiconductor, advanced electronics, or comparable high-technology manufacturing industries.
  • Familiarity with supporting rapid growth settings including new product introductions, engineering changes, and production scaling.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, bills of material, and revision-controlled documentation.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 standards, U.S. export controls, or other regulated manufacturing requirements is advantageous.
  • Strong organization and problem-solving skills with an aptitude for prioritizing tasks and managing multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset in fast-paced contexts.

Why Join Lumilens?

  • Competitive salary in line with experience
  • Extensive benefits including health insurance
  • Opportunities for professional growth and certification support
  • Access to state-of-the-art photonics and advanced manufacturing technologies
  • Engaging and collaborative workplace
