About The Role
The Autonomous Mobility and Delivery (AM&D) team at Uber is committed to accelerating the development and implementation of safe, secure autonomous mobility and delivery services that complement existing Uber offerings, benefiting users, partners, and communities. This involves collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders and leading companies involved with self-driving vehicles and fleet operations.
We are looking for a proactive, strategic Manager for AV OEM Programs to lead complex, cross-functional projects for next-generation autonomous vehicles within the Uber platform. This role acts as a pivotal link between Uber and external autonomous and automotive partners, advocating for Uber’s interests while ensuring smooth execution of new autonomous fleets. The position entails involvement from initial project scoping through to commercial launch, requiring end-to-end program management.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage complex programs from initial planning stages to full deployment, ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and operational needs.
- Drive strategic planning and documentation processes, leading discussions with stakeholders to develop program concepts and translate them into actionable project plans including roadmaps, funding, resource allocation, and measurable goals.
- Coordinate large-scale, multi-disciplinary initiatives by tracking progress, resolving dependencies, and providing regular updates to executive leadership.
- Manage external partnerships by representing Uber’s interests and ensuring fulfillment of partner obligations.
- Gain a deep technical understanding of core areas such as Safety, Vehicle Hardware, Technical Integration, and Fleet Management within the AM&D program.
- Provide clear, concise reporting to senior leadership on progress, risks, and critical decisions.
- Operate with autonomy and adaptability, removing barriers to sustain momentum in a rapidly changing environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum of six years’ experience leading complex, cross-functional programs involving a blend of hardware, software, and operations.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Proficient with data analysis, including ability to use SQL or equivalent tools to support informed decision-making.
Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with autonomous systems, robotics, advanced driver assistance or complex sensing technologies.
- Experience collaborating with OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, or autonomy companies across multiple domains.
- Proven ability to take ambiguous, early-stage projects from concept through to launch, beyond scaling existing programs.
- Experience managing initiatives that cross organizational boundaries and involve external partners with differing incentives and timelines.
- Strong systems thinking skills to integrate vehicle hardware, autonomy software stacks, fleet operations, and marketplace factors into cohesive plans.
- Comfort working in loosely structured environments, capable of defining scope, achieving alignment, and driving execution simultaneously.
- Clear and influential communication style for both technical and non-technical audiences, internal and external.
- Background combining program management with product, design, or engineering perspectives.
- Understanding of vehicle hardware development processes and related constraints.
- Experience consolidating multiple partners into single programs where responsibilities may overlap.
- Demonstrated ability to challenge partner assumptions and defend organizational interests in external settings.
Compensation and Benefits
For roles based in New York City, San Francisco, or Washington, DC, the base salary ranges from USD 162,000 to USD 180,000 annually. Employees are also eligible for bonus programs, equity awards, and various other benefits including a 401(k) plan. The role affords opportunities to participate in Uber’s wide array of employee benefits.
Work Arrangement and Equal Opportunity
Employees are expected to spend at least 50% of their work time in the office unless granted approval for full remote work. Roles at certain locations (e.g., greenlight hubs) may require full-time on-site presence. Uber is an Equal Opportunity employer committed to inclusion, considering all qualified applicants without discrimination based on protected characteristics or criminal history, consistent with legal requirements. Accommodations for disabilities or special needs are available upon request.
