Job Summary
We are currently looking for a skilled Linux & VMware Administrator with extensive experience in managing enterprise Linux systems and VMware virtualization platforms. The candidate must hold an RHCE certification and demonstrate expertise in performance tuning, security enhancements, troubleshooting, and automation within Linux and VMware environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, manage, and support Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems.
- Conduct system monitoring, optimize performance, and manage patching and capacity planning.
- Administer essential Linux services such as DNS, NFS, SSH, FTP, HTTP/HTTPS, and LDAP.
- Apply security best practices including system hardening and vulnerability mitigation.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, filesystems, and storage solutions.
- Troubleshoot complex OS-level, kernel, networking, and application issues.
- Perform backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
- Administer VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter infrastructure.
- Handle VM lifecycle activities including provisioning, migration, cloning, snapshots, and resource allocation.
- Monitor and optimize VMware infrastructure performance and availability.
- Configure High Availability (HA), Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS), vMotion, and storage integration within VMware.
- Execute upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management of VMware components.
- Resolve virtualization issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Develop shell scripts for automating routine system administration tasks.
- Implement automation to streamline operational and provisioning activities.
- Utilize monitoring tools to maintain proactive infrastructure management and support incident resolution.
- Maintain detailed infrastructure documentation and operational runbooks.
Qualifications and Skills
- RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer) certification is required.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Linux system administration, particularly with RHEL.
- Strong knowledge of Linux kernels, networking, security frameworks, storage technologies, and problem resolution.
- Proficiency in managing VMware ESXi, vCenter, and vSphere environments.
- Experience with virtualization technologies and enterprise infrastructure management.
- Skillful in shell scripting using Bash.
- Excellent troubleshooting capabilities and analytical thinking.
Preferred Competencies
- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible.
- Familiarity with SAN/NAS storage solutions.
- Exposure to cloud platforms including Azure or AWS.
- Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery methodologies.
- Understanding of ITIL frameworks and enterprise support operations.
Additional Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related disciplines.
- Ability to efficiently support operations in a 24x7 environment if necessary.
- Strong communication skills coupled with stakeholder management experience.
