About the Role

Bandyup Women’s Prison, a maximum-security facility for women in the metropolitan area, serves as an Assessment and Program Prison with a small Remand cohort and offers complex mental health services. The institution acknowledges the distinct challenges female inmates face, including health issues, limited family contact, substance misuse, histories of abuse, low education and employment levels, and social isolation. Therefore, it provides a supportive environment tailored to meet these complex needs.

Responsibilities

The Laundry Officer oversees daily laundry operations and garment processes for prisoner living and self-care units. This role includes creating meaningful work opportunities by training female prisoners employed within the laundry and ensuring workplace cleanliness and safety that aligns with the needs of the women under custody.

Eligibility

Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents to be eligible for permanent positions within the Western Australian Public Sector.

Requirements

  • Possession of a current 'C' class motor vehicle driver's license.
  • Current valid Provide First Aid (HLTAID003) certification or equivalent (e.g., Senior First Aid) obtained from an accredited provider with at least 12 months validity remaining.
