Role Summary
As an IPM Grounds Team Member based in Warragul, you will report directly to the IPM Supervisor and play an integral role in sustaining a safe, clean, and productive growing environment. Your responsibilities will encompass hygiene, weeding, crop protection, and grounds maintenance activities throughout the farm. Collaborating closely with the IPM team and other operational personnel, you will be pivotal in supporting pest management, maintaining site presentation and equipment, and enhancing overall safety and productivity in the growing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct hygiene, sanitation, weeding, mowing, and grounds upkeep to ensure a clean, compliant, and visually appealing growing environment.
- Safely and precisely carry out crop spraying, pest control, and integrated pest management operations in line with prescribed procedures and safety guidelines.
- Inspect and maintain IPM tools such as sticky traps, bait stations, and chemical inventories to support pest control efforts.
- Keep accurate documentation of spray applications, chemical usage, and overall IPM activities while aiding inventory oversight and regulatory compliance.
- Promote workplace safety by adhering to health and safety protocols, identifying hazards, and suggesting improvements.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of ChemCert Chemical Accreditation is preferred but not mandatory.
- Forklift License and First Aid Certificate are advantageous qualifications.
- Holding a valid Class C Driver's License is essential.
- Proven experience operating spray equipment and handling herbicides or agricultural chemicals.
- Background in grounds maintenance work such as weeding, mowing, or similar outdoor duties.
- Familiarity with horticulture, agriculture, greenhouse, or farm-related environments is highly valued.
- Experience in operating tractors or farming machinery is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain detailed records and comply with workplace safety procedures.
Technical Skills
- Knowledgeable in safe chemical handling practices, spraying methods, and proper application techniques.
- Proficient in operating and maintaining various IPM equipment including sprayers and mowers.
- High attention to detail with the capability to accurately follow instructions and document information.
- Clear understanding of workplace health and safety standards, including the use of PPE and hazard recognition.
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to prioritize and manage daily operational tasks effectively.
