Role Summary
As the inaugural in-house HR Manager, you will play a pivotal role in defining BusRight's talent acquisition, development, and retention strategies as the company scales rapidly within the student transportation industry. Collaborating closely with the CEO and leadership, you will establish recruitment frameworks, foster a compelling employer brand, and ensure that every hire aligns with BusRight’s mission and culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end recruitment efforts across all departments, prioritizing a welcoming and personal candidate experience.
- Develop and sustain talent pipelines to proactively meet hiring demands.
- Design and implement recruitment tools, metrics, and rituals that promote transparency, efficiency, and cultural alignment.
- Partner with marketing and leadership teams to amplify BusRight’s employer brand through storytelling, events, and outreach initiatives.
- Collaborate with department heads to define high-performance standards and create thoughtful, structured expectations.
- Co-create performance review systems that are personalized, purposeful, and true to BusRight’s ethos.
- Establish standardized onboarding procedures to ensure fast integration and productivity for new employees.
- Identify learning and development needs and recommend strategies for continuous skill enhancement.
- Manage all employee data and documentation, maintaining compliance with federal and state laws.
- Draft and update internal policies and procedures to support consistent employee experience and regulatory adherence.
Candidate Profile
- 4 to 7 years of hands-on experience in talent acquisition and retention within venture-backed, fast-growing tech companies.
- Proven ability partnering cross-functionally with teams such as GTM, Product, and Engineering to identify value-driving talent.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguous and complex challenges without relying on prescribed directives.
- Experienced in building or redesigning playbooks, performance scorecards, and human-centered employee experiences.
- Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and sound decision-making capabilities.
- Innovative and entrepreneurial mindset with a preference for tailoring unique solutions instead of standard approaches.
- Technologically adept with a dedication to ongoing personal and professional growth.
- Humble, inquisitive, and dedicated to nurturing a team that values education and meaningful impact.
