About the Company
The client is a long-established architecture and design firm with teams spread across several major markets. It operates in a highly creative, design-led setting where employees are deeply invested in their work and proud of the projects they contribute to. The organization is intentionally investing in its People & Culture function to improve HR workflows, enhance the employee experience, and bring greater structure to how employees are supported.
Role Overview
The Human Resources Coordinator will handle operational and administrative support for the People & Culture team across the organization. Working closely with HR leadership, this person will assist with a wide range of daily HR activities throughout the employee life cycle.
This newly added role exists as the company continues to strengthen its HR function. In the beginning, the coordinator will focus mainly on back-office and administrative work so the wider People & Culture team can spend more time improving processes, strengthening procedures, supporting employee relations, and elevating the employee experience. Over time, the position is expected to become more employee-facing, with opportunities to contribute to orientations, HR process work, employee experience efforts, and broader People & Culture initiatives.
Compensation and Schedule
The role offers a base salary of $65,000 to $73,000 per year. It is a full-time position with a standard 8-hour workday.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver administrative and operational support to the People & Culture team across multiple office locations.
- Keep employee records current and ensure HR systems are updated appropriately.
- Handle employee status updates and help ensure data accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Coordinate onboarding activities and support new hire processing.
- Assist with benefits administration, including enrollments, qualifying life event changes, terminations, and employee inquiries.
- Support leave management, including FMLA where applicable, state leave programs, ADA accommodations, short-term disability, and long-term disability cases.
- Prepare, file, and monitor disability and leave documentation with insurers and third-party administrators.
- Help with employment verification requests, HR reporting, and general HR paperwork.
- Maintain HR forms, templates, documentation, and standard operating procedures.
- Support compliance-related HR tasks and help identify areas where processes need clearer structure or greater consistency.
- Work with HR leadership on employee lifecycle activities, engagement initiatives, and People & Culture projects.
- Take on tactical HR work that enables the team to focus on building and improving the broader HR function.
Qualifications
- 1 to 2 years of experience in Human Resources is preferred, though internships and early-career HR exposure will also be considered.
- A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Demonstrated interest in building a long-term career in HR.
- Some exposure to HR operations, employee records, onboarding, benefits, compliance, or employee life cycle support.
- Prior use of HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
- Strong focus on detail and comfort handling confidential employee information.
- Well organized, dependable, and comfortable with administrative, process-oriented work.
- Appreciation for HR compliance, structure, and accurate process execution.
- Strong communication skills with a collaborative and service-oriented approach.
- Prior industry experience is not required.
Location and Travel
This is a fully remote role and may be performed from anywhere in the United States. The company has offices in several major markets, and occasional in-person meetings with HR leadership may be required, roughly once per quarter depending on location and business needs. Regular office attendance is not expected.
Growth Opportunity
The position is designed to expand over time. At first, the Human Resources Coordinator will concentrate on tactical, administrative, and back-office HR support. As the department matures, the role may take on more employee-facing work such as orientation support, HR process ownership, employee experience initiatives, and broader People & Culture projects. Over the next few years, the objective is for the role to develop into a more well-rounded HR specialist position rather than remain purely administrative.
Interview Process
The hiring process is expected to include two stages: an introductory conversation with HR leadership to discuss the role and get to know the candidate, followed by a more formal or situational interview centered on HR scenarios, communication style, and overall team fit.
