Job Overview
WSP Middle East seeks an experienced HSE Advisor to oversee health, safety, and environmental protocols for an ongoing Property & Building Supervision project located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This role involves managing safety systems aligned with WSP’s HSEQ standards to protect personnel on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all health, safety, and environmental arrangements in line with WSP’s HSEQ Management System to safeguard staff and contractors.
- Lead and supervise HSE Inspectors ensuring enforcement of site-level health and safety practices compliant with legal and client mandates.
- Design and facilitate safety and environmental training programs, including inductions and safe work procedures for WSP employees.
- Assess and authorize contractors’ safety plans, risk evaluations, and methodologies according to legal and client requirements before commencement of work.
- Conduct scheduled daily morning inspections across project locations to confirm safety measures are implemented prior to starting activity.
- Execute weekly joint HSE inspections with inspectors and contractors to ensure timely closure of corrective and preventive safety measures.
- Coordinate HSE meetings involving clients, project personnel, and contractors to review safety performance and initiatives.
- Initiate and test emergency response plans, ensuring that drills meet the project’s schedule and performance benchmarks.
- Ensure thorough follow-up on incident investigations by contractors, guaranteeing corrective actions to prevent recurrence, and offer technical guidance for accident prevention.
- Perform regular site safety reviews to maintain continuous compliance and risk management.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in a senior HSE role, preferably within the construction or engineering sectors.
- Comprehensive understanding of HSE regulations and industry best practices, especially within the Middle East.
- Strong communication skills with an ability to influence stakeholders across organizational levels.
- Proven problem-solving capabilities and sound decision-making skills.
- NEBOSH certification or an equivalent qualification is strongly preferred.
- Fluency in English both spoken and written; Arabic language skills are advantageous.
- Mandatory certification: Should possess Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) accreditation in Health & Safety.
