Overview
As a Host/Hostess at the Indian Restaurant of Holiday Inn®, your primary role is to warmly welcome guests and potential guests, ensuring their dining experience is maximized through a mix of professional expertise and personable interaction. You will uphold local health, safety, and compliance standards while adhering to brand policies and procedures.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Welcome and greet guests warmly, inquiring about reservations and recording or creating them as needed, ensuring every guest feels valued.
- Monitor and maintain restaurant readiness before opening, including cleanliness and proper table setup according to brand standards.
- Maintain personal appearance and uniform according to hotel policies.
- Assist with food and beverage services as required.
- Handle cash transactions and banking tasks; manage irregular payments and assist supervisors with departmental budget preparation and financial goal awareness.
- Practice and encourage recycling and cost-saving measures among staff.
- Carry food and beverages safely to minimize damages and clear tables efficiently and quietly.
- Take accurate telephone bookings, document them appropriately, and maintain knowledge of the menu including daily specials to inform guests.
- Address and resolve guest concerns promptly, escalating incidents to supervisors as necessary.
- Maintain cleanliness of host stations and condition of menus.
- Stay informed about all hotel activities to share relevant information with guests.
- Follow all occupational health and safety (OH&S) guidelines, report hazards, and contribute to a safe working environment by adhering to safety procedures and emergency protocols.
- Log safety, security incidents, and accidents in accordance with hotel requirements.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Possession of a High School diploma or Vocational Certificate in Hotel Management, Food & Beverage, or a comparable field.
- A minimum of one year related experience or equivalent educational background combined with experience.
- Valid certifications related to alcohol awareness and/or food service permits or health/food handler cards as mandated by local authorities.
- Proven ability to interact effectively and professionally with guests, coworkers, and external parties, positively representing the hotel and brand.
- Proficiency in English reading and writing skills.
