Hitch Service Technician

Overview

U-Haul is seeking diligent individuals who enjoy hands-on work and wish to develop valuable technical skills in the role of Hitch Service Technician. This position is based at U-Haul Moving and Storage Center lots and involves delivering exceptional service to customers through advanced technical expertise in towing equipment.

Compensation and Benefits

Our hiring philosophy emphasizes swift onboarding and payment, allowing selected candidates to begin and earn immediately. Candidates will participate in two paid practical interviews. New hires are also eligible for a $100 hiring bonus. Additionally, upon completing the U-Haul Equipment Inspection and Verification certification, employees earn a $300 bonus.

Key Duties

• Gain a thorough understanding and ability to communicate U-Haul’s range of towing packages.
• Assess and recommend the appropriate tow package for customer vehicles.
• Install towing packages ensuring quality and safety standards.
• Deliver excellent customer service and support throughout the process.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned.
• Engage in ongoing professional development via U-Haul University.

Qualifications

• Possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Experience with basic electrical wiring and comfortable using hand and power tools.
• Minimum education level of high school diploma or equivalent.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

The position involves working around mechanical equipment, moving parts, fumes, and chemicals that require adherence to safety protocols including using protective gear such as masks, gloves, goggles, or shields. Physical demands include standing for extended times, moving within the workspace to operate tools, and the ability to lift or assist in moving objects weighing at least 50 pounds.
