About the Role
This position is for an entry-level remote Help Desk Specialist who will provide technical support to users, handle straightforward hardware and software problems, log and track requests, and help maintain a smooth and positive support experience.
The opportunity is well suited to someone who enjoys troubleshooting, assisting people, and building a career in IT support, technical services, or IT operations. The role involves working with internal teams and end users to resolve issues efficiently and keep support records up to date.
Compensation
The pay range for this role is $60,000 to $80,000 per year, with the final amount depending on experience, communication ability, technical strengths, and the client’s hiring requirements. Any additional pay elements or benefits will be discussed during the hiring process.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle support requests received through phone, email, chat, and ticketing tools.
- Investigate and resolve basic issues related to hardware, software, and networking.
- Record support cases and the actions taken to close them accurately.
- Help users with password resets and account access problems.
- Install and set up approved software applications.
- Pass more complex issues to senior IT team members when needed.
- Keep support documents and knowledge base content current.
- Assist with employee onboarding and device configuration.
- Track tickets and work toward timely resolution.
- Coordinate with internal departments to solve technical problems.
- Contribute to technology improvement efforts.
- Complete other administrative and technical support tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- An associate degree or bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- 0 to 2 years of experience in customer service, administration, IT support, or a similar field.
- Clear communication and strong customer service skills.
- Working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace.
- Good troubleshooting skills and a practical approach to solving problems.
- Strong organization and time management abilities.
- Ability to balance several priorities in a remote work setting.
- Strong attention to detail and professional conduct.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and support workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior help desk or technical support experience.
